The “Shikon Alarab” women’s club in Nazareth and it’s manger, Mrs. Faten Bisharat, hosted the Ilam Media Center’s screening of the film “Makhad” (meaning “childbirth”), directed by Waseem Khir.
During the discussion that followed the presentation, many attendees posed questions to Ilam’s production project coordinator, Samah Bsoul, regarding the film and its message. The participants asked questions ranging from the image of females in the Palestinian society to the role of the mother in education to the sacrifice of women who are under the shed of another man.
Attendees praised the several instances of analysis shown in the film, especially those that told the viewer enough of the whole story to understand the situation, yet left room for their imagination to shape their viewpoint. The session was by no means devoid of intense debate between participants with personal experiences, future aspirations, and differing opinions regarding the best model for a healthy community setting off an energetic exchange of viewpoints.
Having been shown in several youth clubs and women's groups, often in the presence of the director, the film "Makhad", partially produced by Ilam, has been competing for viewership throughout 2013.
