Assault on Journalist Hekmat Ghoura's Home

I'lam Media Center strongly condemns the throwing of a stun grenade into the home of fellow sports journalist Hekmat Ghoura this week. In this context, I'lam warns of widening the circle of violence to include journalists working to reveal violent incidents, particularly rampant in football stadiums.
I'lam stresses that despite the lack of injury, this escalation is unacceptable. Serious police work is needed to fight this, not double standards. Until this ends, our moral duty as a community is to renounce violence and delegitimize its perpetrators, no matter their reasons.
I'lam considers this assault a serious violation, especially considering that it also affects freedom of expression and the press, along with the public's right to know.
