Since its inception in 2000, I’lam has worked towards expanding the Arab bookshelf with publications in Arabic, English and Hebrew. I’lam’s publications concentrate on culture and media—from discussions of the Palestinian population’s media consumption to studies on the development of Arab media and its coverage of particular fields.
Another goal of the unit is to publish seasonal and monthly publications regarding the needs of Palestinian society, especially for those working in media.
The center insists on publishing in Arabic in order to emphasize the significance of the language to Palestinian society. This reflects I’lam’s commitment to the protection of the Arabic language from its marginalization and exclusion in the Israeli public sphere.
